Questions
Why can't I open my .pub files anymore?
Microsoft removed Publisher from Microsoft 365 on October 1, 2026, and support for the one-time-purchase versions ended October 13, 2026. Your files are still on your computer, but no current Microsoft app opens them.
What do I get back?
For every .pub file: a PDF that keeps the layout, good for printing and sharing, and a Word (.docx) copy you can edit. They come in one zip file, with the same file names you sent.
Will the Word copy look exactly like the original?
Not always, and we'd rather tell you now. Publisher puts text and pictures in free-floating boxes; Word flows text down the page. Simple flyers come over well. Busy newsletters can shift in the Word copy. The PDF is the faithful copy. We check every file and tell you which ones shifted.
Which Publisher versions work?
Files from Publisher 2000 onward usually convert well. Very old files (Publisher 95 to 98) can lose formatting. If a file can't be converted, we tell you which one and why.
Couldn't I do this myself for free?
Sometimes, yes. Free office suites like LibreOffice can open many .pub files one at a time. We're for people who'd rather not install and learn new software, who have dozens or hundreds of files, or who want someone to check every page.
What if a file won't convert?
We tell you which file and why. If none of your files can be converted, you get a full refund. You can also send one file free before you pay.
